Tuesday Tips - TREND ALERT Patterned Tiles

Have you noticed? There's something trending - Patterned tiles.

I've decided to focus on bathroom tiles in this post, as I've seen so many fabulous bathrooms lately, but patterned tiles is something we're now seeing in all rooms.

If you want your bathroom to look a bit different - be bold and choose interesting patterned tiles. Mix and match for a great result.

We're not only seeing patterned tiles, but also patchwork tiles. The tiles are completely random and don't match at all, but it still works.

Oh, and don't forget! If you want a trendy bathroom - certain cool products are obligatory! Same goes for wooden stools!

What  do you think? Ready to add some patterned tiles?!

Tuesday Tips - DIY VASE

So this Tuesday Tip is a very simple DIY vase. This used to be a glass jar filled with black olives. Instead of taking the glass jar to the bottle bank, I removed the label and decided to do something with it. Not sure if you call this recycling or upcycling or both!

What you need:
A recycled glass jar
A napkin (or a piece of fabric)
String
Scissors

I folded the napkin slightly to make it the right size for my jar.

Then add some string to keep the napkin in place.

VoilĂ !

I think it would look great on a large party table with lots of jars in different sizes.
Can you picture it?!

I've got some exciting news to share with you tomorrow..

Tuesday Tips - DIY clothing rail

This Tuesday Tip is a DIY that doesn't require a lot of time. To make this clothing rail all you need is a coffee table leg and some screwsNot only is this DIY quick, it's inexpensive too.

This is a great way of displaying a few nice things in your bedroom. I think it could work in a hallway too. It would also look great in a clothes or furniture shop. How would I use this clothing rail in a furniture shop? I would display blankets on the coat hangers.

If you don't have copper coat hangers you can easily spray paint some standard ones with some copper spray paint. It's not more complicated than that.

Next weeks tip is also a quick and inexpensive.

Tuesday Tips - Studio searching

Today I'm taking you to Denmark to visit photographer Kirstine Mengel and her fabulous new studio. Who wouldn't want to work from here? It's got high ceilings and natural light, not to mention lots of space. If you ever find yourself looking for a studio, I've asked Kirstine Mengel for some tips on what to look for.

What is the most important thing to look for when you search for a studio?
It is the size of the room, that you can get distance to the background and you have the right hight.

Why did you choose this studio?
Because it is a great room with lots og daylight from the big windows and its very easy to get big furnitures and other products in to the studio through the gateway.

What do you like the most about your new work space?
I like that it is a raw space with lots og daylight that gives me all options for shooting the pictures I like.

How long does it take to create a set like the one we can see below?
I created the set together with stylist Sanne Korsholm and it took about half a day to get it as we wanted.

Tuesday Tips - Trend Alert Invisible Kitchens

Yes, it's possible to have an invisible kitchen. Modern kitchens look less and less like a traditional kitchen and are made to blend in to our living space. We don't need our appliances and pots and pans on display. Everything is hidden behind the cupboard doors and it feels like a peaceful space and not a everyday busy kitchen. You would need to be super organised and keep everything very clean at all times thought, or I don't think it would work.

Tuesday Tips - ART DIY

Now, I'm certainly not an artist and a lot of you probably feel the same way, but it doesn't mean we can't have a go at making things. This kind of art - we can all do! It's so simple and can add a lot to a room - colour and / or pattern!

You need:

- plywood or canvas
- paint (tester pots or leftovers will do)
- masking tape
- roller or paint brush
- ruler or spirit level

If you think this is too difficult, but still want to try why not do something like this?!

Last year, in France, I made something similar (click here to see my DIY). It was really easy to do and it added a bit of something to our living room.

As our topic is art today I've found a video for you to watch. Are you ready for 4 minutes of pure inspiration?! I love it! Installation by Juanan Requena. If you have an empty wall, well here's what to do with it!

Good, isn't it?!

Tuesday Tips - Empty Frames

So when it comes to empty frames, yes I have written about them before. It was one of the first things I tried myself when I started blogging. I couldn't get enough of vintage frames. In France, they are everywhere at Bric-Ă -bracs.

Last weeks Tuesday Tip was about duplicating art and this week it's about displaying empty frames.. I think we need a DIY next week!

I love this display and the fact that the frames have been painted the same colour as the wall. The frames are all different and that makes it more interesting. The rustic string goes really well with the wooden crates and the vintage door headboard (which by the way is just beautiful). Love the peacock feather and the frame in a frame! I think this is a great alternative to displaying art. The frames become art themselves.

The wall colour also matches the linen sheets and it makes it look like a very peaceful room. To make this room more industrial and not too sweet, Lina has added black as an accent colour.

If you've been creative with empty frames please link to it below, so we can come and have a look!

Tuesday Tips - Duplicate Art

I like it when a Tuesday Tips post comes together from seeing a random photo on Pinterest. Todays tip wasn't something I had noticed before, but when I did it all made sense.

I love the effect you get from duplicating art and I'm totally hooked! I've even found several examples of how it can be done.

If you see a magazine, a photo or a poster you really like.. buy several or even print them out and display them in a row like this! Repeating your art makes a much greater impact.

Display your art, photos or magazines vertically or horizontally. You could also do this with letters. The possibilities are endless! Have fun duplicating your art!

Tuesday Tips - Comfort Zone

Today's tips is not a physical thing, but about stepping out of your comfort zone. As a blogger it's easy to hide behind your screen, but now and again it's actually a good idea to get out and meet people. I'm just back from The HIVE in Copenhagen. I met some really nice bloggers and I've also learned a lot! #hive14

The HIVE blog conference in Copenhagen 2014

I was able to take something from all the speakers and workshops and now I'm going to try to put it all into practice. There are things I'm doing wrong, things I can easily improve on, but thankfully also some things I'm doing right.

It's interesting to know that quite often we have the same questions and also problems, so this weekend has been great. We've been able to share things and network. I've got a pile of business cards to go through and lots of new blogs to follow.

We visited the Muuto show room in Copenhagen and if I had to work in an office again, this is where I would love to work. Below you can see where they have their lunch.. not bad, is it?!

Today's tips doesn't just apply to blogging of course! It applies to everything! I've just myself realised how important it is, so I'm going to stop hiding from behind my screen.

Here I am in my element styling at the Vipp store in Copenhagen at the Bodie and Fou pop-up store. Gudy from Eclectic Trends took the photo. :) I'll show you more later!

By Copenhagen! I'm hoping to come back one day very soon!

I thought I would be able to blog from Denmark, but there were far to many things happening, so I wasn't able to. Hope you're all well!! If you're new to Tuesday Tips there are lots of tips to choose from here

Tuesday Tips - IKEA hack by Elv's

Today's Tuesday Tips brings us to Scandinavian design lover Elv's. Her home is mostly white, black and grey, so when she saw the colourful PS collection by IKEA it wasn't quite for her. Saying that, she loved the shapes of this collection by Mathias HahnSo in true DIY fashion, Elvera got busy with some spray paint. She chose her favourite "colours" and completely transformed the vases and jars. They look like they were meant to live in this beautiful home. They fit in perfectly. What a great idea and a fantastic result!

It just goes to show that if something isn't the coulour you would like it to be, it shouldn't put you off. There are ways of getting what you want and it isn't always that difficult to change things. Is there an #ikeahacker in you?
