Oversized wall decoration

It's Friday again and it's been a really busy, but good week. So looking forward to what's ahead. New and very exciting collaborations in the making..

A bit of yellow never hurt anybody on a Friday, did it?
I'm loving that wall decoration! Where can you buy oversized trays like that?!

Happy Friday!!

Faye Toogood's Home

The photos might not be new, but they were new to me and might be to you too. This home is unique and out of this world. Designer Faye Toogood has, in my eyes, created a perfect home. It's all perfect. It needs no more words. Today I'm leaving you with these beautiful pictures. Enjoy!

New table in the living room

It was time for a new table as the retro one from France was getting more and more wobbly. A wobbly coffee table is of course not ideal, so our poor old retro table is out and in is this black and grey table from Made.

You can pop over to Life in Sketch to see more photos of our living room. I know, I've gone a bit colour crazy! I think it's healthy.. It's summer and I love decorating with flowers.
(The cushions from Ferm Living.)

Our new table acutally came with two smaller tables that can fit underneath the grey one. I didn't really see the need for three tables in our small living room, so instead I've been a bit creative.. Magnus has got a new bedside table and we also got a new side table. I'll show you that later. Magnus and I have got a project this summer - to paint and re-decorate his room. We'll be starting after our trip to Norway. We've yet to decide on a colour scheme, but we're discussing it! It's fun deciding what to do together, although I do have a feeling it wouldn't just be the table that would be red if he got to choose everything..

For the love of stripes

I've always liked stripes, but these black and white ones - I love!
They work so well with Nordic interiors.

Elisa Ossino Studio

Hope you've had a nice weekend! We're starting clean and posh this week with styling by Italy based Elisa Ossino Studio

In addition to the architecture and the styling shown on the site there's also a very impressive thumbler account to discover.

who we are creatives coming from different areas under the creative direction of elisa ossino, architect and interior stylist

what we do we deal with concept, design and creation of interiors, set, stand for fairs, exhibitions and events for the interior design industries. we also produce editorial photo shoots, advertising campaigns and catalogues for some of the most important design companies and create objetcs and furniture

how we work we choose a light and empty approach connoted by a strong scenographic character that refers to installations

I think this monochrome home is very impressive. There are plenty of design classics and it has been beautifully furnished throughout. You've got to love the sofa!

Great mix of chairs! My favourite the Charlotte Perriand Les Arcs leather chair. I also love the daybed!

I guess these LC3 Courbusier leather armchairs aren't too bad either...!

Simple, but fab and peaceful bedroom!

The bathroom is very classy! Love the wooden stools! The wood softens the look of the black marble.

I would love to live in a place with this much light... one day!

Simple dining

Another white dining room with black details.. I know, I'm obsessed! You too?! It wouldn't look the same without the wooden floorboards and the green plants though.

I think these black frames are so cool. You can of course do this in any colour or size you like. What you need - frames, paint and card... So simple, yet so effective. Not to mention the cross made with masking tape! So easy and inexpensive!

Nice little details. The chairs, gold vases and the wooden bowls really stand out against all the white. Try shopping in charity shops for fun unique items. It would be boring if we all had the same things..! (Helping charities is of course wonderful too!)

Digitally printed vintage cutlery

I first discovered Daycollection a couple of years ago at Maison & Object, Paris. I really liked the chair covers from the 4meK collection.

I've been asked to review the new "Couverts" collection. It's a series of vintage cutlery - digitally printed on washed linen and made in France.

I've chosed to display my fork. I guess I should say table runner, but I think it deserves to be seen! Doesn't it look good?! I think these table runners look great hung up in either kitchen or dining rooms. They would of course look great on a table too. There's a spoon and knife to match too! If you read and put into practice this weeks Tuesday Tip you would probably be displaying three forks in a row!

The placemats also come with vintage cutlery, as do the aprons, tea towels and table cloths. There are also lots of other cool products from Daycollection for you to discover.

Looks like I've got mint green fever!  Plate and napkin from Ferm Living and Cup from Vipp.

You might have noticed that I like mixing new and vintage, so this works for me!

Tuesday Tips - IKEA hack by Elv's

Today's Tuesday Tips brings us to Scandinavian design lover Elv's. Her home is mostly white, black and grey, so when she saw the colourful PS collection by IKEA it wasn't quite for her. Saying that, she loved the shapes of this collection by Mathias HahnSo in true DIY fashion, Elvera got busy with some spray paint. She chose her favourite "colours" and completely transformed the vases and jars. They look like they were meant to live in this beautiful home. They fit in perfectly. What a great idea and a fantastic result!

It just goes to show that if something isn't the coulour you would like it to be, it shouldn't put you off. There are ways of getting what you want and it isn't always that difficult to change things. Is there an #ikeahacker in you?

Tuesday Tips - Subtle Details

I love these Easter photos from Frk Elton. Easter definitely doesn't have to take over our living rooms. It's much nicer with a couple of decorations than decorations everywhere. It's all in the details after all. I think this should go for all celebrations.

If you don't know Frk Elton her blog is very inspiring and there are lots of DIYs. Enjoy!

Here's what it looked like before Easter.

I first noticed Frk Elton's blog quite a while back when she was showing this photo of her outside space. Love it!

Black and white studio by KASIA ORWAT

This studio apartment (46m²) is designed by talented Kasa Orwat home design in Poland. The black and white zones work really well. The living area is nice and light and has got lots of interesting details. I'm impressed they've managed to make the space feel as spacious as they have. There are specific zones for the living room, workspace and kitchen/diner. For a studio apartment the kitchen is surprisingly large. As most things in this studio are black and white, the wooden legs on the dining table and the light grey kitchen units softens the look. I love the milk bottles and the black SMEG fridge. I'm also a lamp addict, so this apartment really speaks to me. The Victor Vetterlein Trash Me lamp is my favourite here.

Hope you're enjoying the Easter weekend!!
We're off to the airport.
I'll show your more photos from Norway and Sweden very soon.

Tuesday Tips - Window Room Divider

I've seen lots of different room dividers, but one of the nicest solutions I've seen I noticed in a shop in Sweden (I'll show you more of this beautiful shop later in the week).

A vintage window has been suspended from the ceiling with metal wires to act as a room divider. It breaks up the room, but you still get all the light and you can still see everything. It would work really well in a living room between the sofa and the dining table. The window would seperate the two areas without it feeling too enclosed.

Have a nice day!

Tuesday Tips - DIY plywood shelf

I've had fun building a plywood shelf, so I thought I would share this DIY with you today.

What you need:

Plywood (I used thickness 18mm - B&Q can cut it for you in store)
Wood glue
Spirit level
Set square
Screws
Screwdriver
Pencil
Measuring tape

My shelf measures; back panel 61cm x 183cm and five shelves of 10cm x 61cm.

First you decide the size of the gaps between the shelves. I decided I wanted to have one larger shelf in the middle. Here are the measurements I used. These are the gaps between the shelves; 34cm, 30cm, 42cm, 34cm and 30cm.

Once you have decided where you want your shelves, you draw a line with a pencil. It's important that the lines are straight obviously, so I would suggest using a set square to keep things completely straight.

You then follow the line and make a straight (ish) line with your wood glue. I would recommend a really strong wood glue, especially if you're going to use the shelf as a display unit more than a bookshelf. (TIP! If there's any excess glue you can remove it with .. wait for it.. make up removal wipes. The wipes even take away fingerprints and pencil marks if there are any, they are so handy for DIY projects) I applied glue on both the back panel and the shelf.

When you have glued all the shelves you have to leave it all to dry. After about an hour my husband and I added the screws. They offer extra support, so I think it's important to add screws as well as glue. We put in 3 screws on each shelf. They are of course on the back and you wouldn't even know they were there.

Your shelf is now ready to be used. You can of course paint it if you want to. I'm leaving it natural just now as plywood is of course very trendy. Just like large knit cushions (this one is from B&Q).

Unique vintage upcycled plates by Yvonne Ellen.

Hope you like my DIY shelf and that you'll build one!
