My Attic Bedroom

I keep saying how important it is to be personal in decor, so when I saw this bedroom by My Attic I had to show you. Marij has brought together some little treasures from her travels. It's so different. I'm loving all these patterns! Very graphic.

Doesn't it look great?

Tuesday Tips - Empty Frames

So when it comes to empty frames, yes I have written about them before. It was one of the first things I tried myself when I started blogging. I couldn't get enough of vintage frames. In France, they are everywhere at Bric-à-bracs.

Last weeks Tuesday Tip was about duplicating art and this week it's about displaying empty frames.. I think we need a DIY next week!

I love this display and the fact that the frames have been painted the same colour as the wall. The frames are all different and that makes it more interesting. The rustic string goes really well with the wooden crates and the vintage door headboard (which by the way is just beautiful). Love the peacock feather and the frame in a frame! I think this is a great alternative to displaying art. The frames become art themselves.

The wall colour also matches the linen sheets and it makes it look like a very peaceful room. To make this room more industrial and not too sweet, Lina has added black as an accent colour.

If you've been creative with empty frames please link to it below, so we can come and have a look!

Bedroom changes

I've been busy painting one wall in our bedroom light grey ("Morning Song" from Valspar). The colour is really calming and I think it looks great. It also goes really nicely with black and white.

I know people are adding colours just now, but I'm more comfortable with this, so I'm sticking to what I like.

My large handmade screen print is from Måridee Studio on Etsy. I love Etsy! I like that you can find things not everybody has got. Soon I'll show you my new things from Pasinga for my office.

The marble lamp is from B&Q and came with a shade. I prefer it without as I thought it looked too sweet with the shade. I bougth the vintage number 28 in Sweden at Herbret Antik

I was really lucky to win this lambswool blanket from Loaf - called the Brilliant Blanket. Black books by Design LettersI found the vintage mirror at a market in France.

The black and white feather cushion is from Kremmerhuset in Norway and the large knit cushion from B&Q

Would love to hear what you think.. Have a fab day!

Office space in built in wardrobe

I like good solutions. When I was younger I couldn't figure out why kitchen cupboards stopped half way up the wall. Wouldn't it make more sence to use the space? Of course now there are cupboards like that. Floor to ceiling makes so much more sense, especially if there's a space issue. This doens't just apply to kitchens, but to bedrooms too.

I've written about hidden office spaces before (here and here). I love this idea of incorporating a desk in a floor to ceiling hinged wardrobe. There's space for everything you need.

You really wouldn't know this home office space was there. There's even space for the chair to stay in the wardrobe when it's not in use. Nice detail. When the door is closed, the clutter is gone and the room goes back to being a lovely, relaxing bedroom. Perfect.

I spot a very cool Harry Allen pig money bank in this photo.

Nice use of space isn't it?

Bright and lovely in Berlin

I'm hopping over to Berlin for some inspiration on this beautiful, sunny Monday morning. This apartment has got lots of nice and quite simple ideas to steal.

Apart from the obvious lots of light, white walls and fab furniture, I really love the green plants in the kitchen. What a nice way of adding some greenery to a room by displaying plants on stools. The stools could double up as extra seating too. This way they wouldn't be in the way when not used as seats.. They actually have another purpose when they're not sat on. (Loving this kitchen by the way!)

You could copy the unit between the double doors by simply buying a tall kitchen cupboard or, if you are a bit handy, by making a tall box. It can be used to hide clutter and also for displaying things on. I like the proportions of this unit.

Add colours to a room by adding fresh flowers.

Create your own word banner by printing out large letters and cutting them out with a craft knife. Then attach them to a piece of string with some glue.

Balloons attached to a present. NICE!

Display your favourite clotes on a hanging rack and some pretty shoes on shoe boxes. I mention that you can add colours with flowers, but you can of course add colours with clothes and shoes too.

I love the toothbrush holder. It's nice to see something a bit different and out of the ordinary. You can pick up inexpensive pottery tumblers in Charity shops or at car boot sales.

The large branch is nice to. I wonder if it will flower?

Green plants in the bathroom.. YES please!!

Hope this gave you some inspiration.

Monochrome apartment in Edinburgh

Yesterday I told you about my dream of renovating an apartment. Today I'm showing you Fiona McNab's monochrome apartment in Edinburgh. It's got a really similar layout to yesterdays home, but this one has been treated with a lot of love and looks really beautiful. Who wouldn't want to move in here?! I love this place and think you will too! Her apartment is light and airy. It shows off the original features and has been decorated really tastefully throughout.

A room in a room

This is a beautifully renovated 1894 Swedish apartment. It's 58m², which is not huge, but it feels light, open and spacious.

Natural light is really imporant, so I think this is a great solution. If you have a room without a window - use glass panels instead of a wall. It creates more light for a start, but also the room feels bigger as it's not enclosed. It's more like a room in a room than two separate spaces.

The mix of old and new, industrial and trendy is perfect here. Love those leather armchairs.

The simple wood pallet bed fits in perfectly with the industrial and natural feel.

In the kitchen there's a 50s style mint green SMEG fridge, marble worktops, tiled walls, open shelves and also industrial shelves, vintage chairs, trendy wall lights, brass taps... Perfection!

Lovely lovely

If you were to ask me what me dream home would look like.. well, it would look a lot like this.

I love the open plan dining / kitchen / living. The room is nice and bright and there's lots of natural light coming in from the large windows.  The room flows really well even though it's a long room. The owners have created zones for living, dining and the kitchen and it work's really well. It's much better to put your furniture in towards the middle of the room instead of pushing everything up against the walls. It's a much better use of the space. Quite often long rooms can feel impractical, but here it looks perfect.

This beautiful home is located in Sweden and was photographed by Lovely Life

For a similar, very on trend, star lamp try Made.

Whishbone chairs love them!

Dreamy Barcelona Day Bed!!

I really like this huge gallery wall.

Another thing I love is the reference to travelling throughout the home. It's obviously a family who likes to travel. There's also a nice mix of old and new.
