Small living by Kim Timmerman

I love the natural colour scheme here.. and the secret office space. Very clever. Such great way to keep your dining room look tidy. I didn't get it at first and thought they had the same lamp both in the dining room and in the office. Isn't it amazing what you can do with a few shelves?

There's even a sweet little bed hidden away..

Guest Post - Un Due Tre Ilaria

Hello everybody, my name is Ilaria and I blog on un due tre ilaria about everything that inspires me and makes me feel good in interiors, design and lifestyle. I'm Italian and I've been living in France for 13 years. This summer, at the same time Hege was moving to Scotland, we left beloved Paris to move to Southern France, in sunny Provence.  It is a great honor to be here today. Hege was one of the first bloggers to believe in my blog (and it was with a "green" post ;-) so the idea for this guest post came to me as an evidence!

I love colors and colored interiors and I was thrilled last spring when Pantone announced the colors for Fashion this Fall. Recently I figured out how these colors were adopted in interiors. Green is one of my favorite colors and, among the Pantone's selection, three out of ten were hues of green: emerald,  linden green and deep lichen (by far my favorite one).

People find pretty hard to accept green hues in modern interiors (I had walls in our living room in Paris and it was pretty cool, believe me!). If you are one of them, you still have the chance to have greenery instead : green plants at home, as if nature stepped inside. Plants have always been important for me, they make me feel good and they purify the air that we breathe!

Do you really think you don't have "green fingers"? Don't give up : succulents need very little help from you to grow and don't hesitate to use cut leaves to add some nature at home!

I still think "greenery" is a pretty nice word, isn't it? I hope you enjoyed this post. Have a lovely green day!

Tuesday Tips - DIY Hanging Rack

You can make a trendy hanging rack with just 3 things. You need 2 hooks, a chain or wire and a pipe. You could even use a part of an old floor lamp if you have something to upcycle.

I'm showing you two versions here. I love the copper pipe. It looks great with black and white.

I'm also a big fan of this chain.

Will you have a go at making your own hanging rack?! If I had a bit more space here I would. I think a pipe with leather belts would also be nice. I'm kind of convincing myself that I "need" a hanging rack now.. Perhaps I could do a mini version.

As usual if you have already done a project like this please link below so we can have a peek. Hope you'll be back for next weeks Tuesday Tips.

The Newsroom

Well how surprised was I when I stepped off the train and saw a blue skye! Edinburgh was great. I visited a couple of pubs with my friend. We were able to catch up and had some lovely food.

We met in the Newsroom on Leith Street. I have been there a few times before (a very long time ago when we lived in Edinburgh), but now with the new decor it was much nicer. The food was lovely too.

The rest of the weekend was spent in and out charity shops and car boot sales in Glasgow. A perfect weekend. Hope you all had a good weekend too!

I'll be back tomorrow with a Tuesday Tips post.

Tuesday Tips - Spray paint old figurines

I've written about spray paint before, but this is slightly different. Eclectic style is quite trendy just now and I see more and more strange ornaments appearing. I love upcycling and this is so easy. Take a normal figurine or ornament and transform it into an eye catcher by simply giving it a new colour. Spray paints even come with primer added now, so it's not even necessary to prime things first. There's one thing I would love to see though and that's smaller cans. You don't want to spray everything one colour as it'll be too much of the same. I always have to make myself stop when I'm in spray painting mode (is that a thing?). You could easily take it too far. (WARNING!)

So these are the kind of ornaments I'm talking about. I frankly wouldn't look twice would you? I almost have to look away, which is what I have been doing for the last 37 years.

If figurines looked like this however my eyes would be quite happy.

Etsy shop Thrash Things (love the name)

A bit of spray paint can even give offer a new life for garden gnomes.

This two toned parrot in black and white also looks amazing.

If you want your home to be different visit charity shops and bric-à-bracs or even find things in the street. I don't mean that you have to buy everything 2nd hand of course, but a few special things.

Tomorrow I'm going charity shop hunting in Glasgow with a friend. We'll be looking for weird ornaments and Christmas ideas.. Hoping to find an animal lamp too. Should be fun! I'll show you what I picked up soon.  Pre and post spray paint. I'll be back with more Tuesday Tips next week. Hope you'll link below if you've done a project like this one.

Different styles

It's the last day of the holidays for Magnus, so we did nice things today. We spent the day together, away from computers, and then he went to a Birthday party. So tomorrow it's back to normal again with school and work. Hopefully I'll even get to reply to your sweet messages. I'm kind of drowning here, but I'll get there in the end.

I'm working on two rooms for B&Q (a large DIY chain in the UK, by large I mean 321 stores and over 30 000 employees!). They have a campaign for rooms, so I'm doing a before and after of both our bedroom and living room. Can't wait to show you what I've done. The rooms are completely different in style. One is Eclectic the other Nordic. I really like the different styles in the two rooms. Who said that all rooms in your home have to be the same style?! Do you think I can pull off an eclectic style? Me being scared of colours and all that.. hm.. #challengeyourself

I'll be back tomorrow with a Tuesday Tips post. Until then..
Have a lovely evening!

Tuesday Tips - Marble DIY

Now, I'm sure most of you have seen this fabulous table. I think I would have taken it one step further and spray painted the legs copper.. but I do love this DIY.

I used the same material (sticky back plastic from B&Qand simply covered a cardboard box. I say simply, but it's quite hard. You need patience as well as precision. I'm happy with the result though.

The beautiful LOMBOK bracelet is from Gong.

Why not make a trendy marble notebook or cover a folder in marble,

or a marble lamp?

I think a fake marble shelf would be cool. Do you think we could pull it off?!

Hope you've enjoyed today's Tuesday tips
