Yellow themed weekend

Did you have a good weekend? My weekend ended up being very yellow themed. I spotted a couple of very cool, yellow vintage doors whilst having a coffee at the Delizique coffee shop in Glasgow.

Then we had lunch at this industrial style restaurant with yellow chairs and Verner Panton flowerpot pendants. I walked past a few weeks ago and noticed the yellow chair in the window. Yes, I'm that sad.. I go to restaurants because they have yellow chairs. In my defence it also looked like a nice and interesting place, which it really was. This is Italian restaurant Zizzi at the West End, Glasgow and it's definetely worth a visit if you're in town. The restaurant was designed by B3 Designers

Design Letters new collection

The latest collection from Design Letters includes a brand new office concept starring Arne Jacobsens typography from 1937. I do love my laptop and my phone, but I can be quite old school too. I love having a notebook and a pen in my bag, so I can write down ideas when I'm out and about.

In my photo Design Letters notebook and pencil and
HUSH Spring / Summer 2014 catalogue.

Are you still old school too?!

Spring feelings

There are quite a lot of signs of spring here. After months of rain, it's great to see a blue sky and the sun again. It also makes it easier to take photos, which I really enjoy.

I love the change from Winter to Spring. It's so nice and refreshing to see everything grow.

I picked the little branch when I was out walking and enjoying some sunshine. My new vase is from Iwoot and my Fornasetti poster from Paperchase

Yellow on my mind

What catches your eye here? For me it's the yellow details. These photos reminded me of our living room in France this time last year..  To me yellow is a happy colour. I think my yellow cushion will get a spot on the sofa again. It's such a gorgeous spring colour.

Tuesday Tips - DIY wall chart

Hello, I’m Katrin from Daily perfect moment, and I’m very happy to be the guestblogger here today to share another DIY with you as a part of Hege's Tuesday Tips.

I love vintage objects, typography and black & white. So why not combine all of them in form of a nice wall decoration which looks like an old school’s roll-up wall chart?

I chose letters, because they are fun and easy to do, but of course you can paint whatever motive comes to mind. Print your motive and glue together for a full size template. You should be able to see the lines shine through the fabric. Trace the lines of your motive with a black pen and colour with acrylic paint. If you want to enhance the vintage look, you can add some tea- or coffee stains.

Take two rods, slightly longer than the width of your fabric, paint them black and tack the fabric to them. Attach a black rope to both ends of the rod for hanging onto the wall. Alternatively, your copy shop will help you with transferring photos to canvas or will print an advertising banner from any picture you want.

Bright and lovely in Berlin

I'm hopping over to Berlin for some inspiration on this beautiful, sunny Monday morning. This apartment has got lots of nice and quite simple ideas to steal.

Apart from the obvious lots of light, white walls and fab furniture, I really love the green plants in the kitchen. What a nice way of adding some greenery to a room by displaying plants on stools. The stools could double up as extra seating too. This way they wouldn't be in the way when not used as seats.. They actually have another purpose when they're not sat on. (Loving this kitchen by the way!)

You could copy the unit between the double doors by simply buying a tall kitchen cupboard or, if you are a bit handy, by making a tall box. It can be used to hide clutter and also for displaying things on. I like the proportions of this unit.

Add colours to a room by adding fresh flowers.

Create your own word banner by printing out large letters and cutting them out with a craft knife. Then attach them to a piece of string with some glue.

Balloons attached to a present. NICE!

Display your favourite clotes on a hanging rack and some pretty shoes on shoe boxes. I mention that you can add colours with flowers, but you can of course add colours with clothes and shoes too.

I love the toothbrush holder. It's nice to see something a bit different and out of the ordinary. You can pick up inexpensive pottery tumblers in Charity shops or at car boot sales.

The large branch is nice to. I wonder if it will flower?

Green plants in the bathroom.. YES please!!

In collaboration with Plant me now

Well I like a challenge, so when Plant me now approached me I did of course say - yes. The challenge is between selected bloggers and it is to transform an outdoor space with flowers (I've borrowed a friends house). These are my before photos. #UrbanRevival

In July when all the lovely flowers are out I'll let you see my after photos. I might not like too many colours inside, but when it comes to outside I can't get enough. Flowers make me happy. I'll be adding Perennials, Foxglowes and pretty Aubrieta Plants

I can't wait to see these cute little plants grow and blossom!
Bring on Spring and Summer is all I can say!
We need some sunshine!

DIYable painting

I like everything in this room, but what caught my eye was the very DIYable painting on the wall. I think it would be quite easy to make and it's a good way of adding some colour to a room. You could of couse make this in any colour and any size and adapt it to your space. Very DIYable, if you ask me.

You need two tester pots of paint or some leftover paint and a canvas. To make the circle you need a large round tray or a drawing compass. I guess a thin paintbrush and some precision wouldn't be a bad idea either.. Fancy having a go?!

Tuesday Tips - Two Shower Curtains

I'd never given shower curtains much thought until I saw this photo last week from the monochrome apartment in Edinburgh. It all made sense to me. It's both more practical in regards to water spillage and it also looks better having two shower curtains instead of one.

The shower curtains in the photo below really make this room, don't you think? Without them it wouldn't quite look the same. It's a great way of adding style, colour and pattern to your bathroom.

Check out my Bathroom board on Pinterest for more shower curtains and inspiration.

Next Tuesday it's time for a DIY. See you then!

Leather straps

Hope you had a good weekend. I love unplanned weekends that end up being really great. I had a friend staying this weekend and yesterday we went to Largs for a day out. It was a really cold and windy day, but we still had a lovely day at the seaside. Magnus had so much fun. Did you know there are palmtrees in Scotland?! More about that another time..

It's back to work again and I found this really inspiring workspace with some fab leather straps. What a brilliant storage idea.

Small but spacious aparment

I've loved Sweden ever since we used to go on holiday when I was little. As Magnus and I are spending Easter with my parents in Norway this year, we'll also be going on a trip to Sweden. Can't wait! Anway I'm rambling, I was going to show you this beautiful apartment for sale. It's only 58m², but I think they've managed to create a spacious feel. I like the idea of having the desk in the large hall. Great use of space.
