Happy New Year!!!

First day back and it's New Years Eve. I hope you've had a very nice Christmas. Spain was lovely and I'll show you some photos another day. 

Here's our living room ready for tonight's celebrations. 

I've included a couple of tips as it's Tuesday Tips day. First of all I've used Kinetic Dazzle Stripe wallpaper as a table runner. The numbers I've cut out from old calendars. The large ones from the Stendig Calendar and the smaller ones from the RK Design calendar. So hold on to your old calendars and use them for Birthdays and other parties. The smaller numbers would also look good as cup cake toppers if you put them on a little stick. 

I wrapped some gold tinsel round some BBQ skewers and dropped them into the straws just to add a bit of a sparkly detail. The chocolates were bought to match in black and gold. The Christmas decorations are from B&Q. If you feel like making some concrete candle holders you can learn how to make them here. The pretty white stars are from Jotte shop. 

I've really enjoyed blogging the last two years and would be lost without my blog and my readers. Thank you so much for everything and see you in the New Year! I hope 2014 will be a Happy Year for all of us!

Upcycled Matryoshka dolls

I've been looking for a set of Matrysohka dolls or Russian nesting dolls for a long time and last week I finally found them for £1 in a Charity shop. With help of some white mat spray paint I've transformed them. They're no longer pink and I much prefer the minimalistic style.

Posh Christmas

How fancy is this? I love this place!!!! It reminds me of our first home in France (an old barn with stone walls and beams). To me this French and Nordic mix looks just perfect. There's just a little hint of Christmas here and sometimes that's all you need.

It's holiday time

I've been told by my family that I have to leave the laptop at home, so tomorrow we jet off to Spain no laptop in site. I really need a break. So I'm looking forward to spending the holidays with my family. But before then we've got time for another fantastic white space. I've also scheduled some posts for you.

Tuesday Tips - Fake Mantle

This beautiful mantle piece has been nicely decorated for Christmas. 

But as we don't all have fireplaces, here's what I suggest to do instead. 

Decorate a dresser, a shelf, a table or a window and show it off like it's your mantle. 
You can use a garland or simply go out and pick some greenery from a bush or a tree.
Here are some ideas.

Finally a blog post that has nothing to do with Christmas. Isn't this a fantastic place to kick off the week with? This very modern Canadian home and was created by designer Anne Sophie Goneau. 

I think the brick walls add so much to this place. It simply wouldn't look the same without them.

Colourful Take on Christmas

This festive Victorian house feels really modern and I like their colourful approach to Christmas. There's a nice mix of decorations and I also really like the wall colour. It's quite brave to choose a dark colour like this, but with some bright decorations it really works.
