Tuesday Tips - Simple Outdoor Seating

It being summer I'm writing this Tuesday Tips post about a simple way to enjoy the outdoors. A blanket, some cushions and something nice to drink can be enough. You don't need designer furniture to make a little seating area and you can put it anywhere you like. On the beach, a pier, on the grass.. The choice is yours.

Isn't this just such a cute idea by Bomania?! I like this mobile set-up. You can even carry it all under your arm. So it's perfect for within walking distance, on the bike, on the boat or in the car.

Enjoy the little things!

Raw apartment

This is a design and graphics apartment in Moscow. Not just raw, but simply amazing isn't it?! I love the contrast with the black lamps.

Have a nice new week.

Happy Friday!!

I love this space! Imagine being able to open the livingroom completely and walk onto a patio like this one... I think it's dreamy! One day! We're allowed to dream on a Friday afternoon, right?!

Happy Friday!!
Hope the sun is shining were you are!

This is your Kingdom

Very soon I'll be contributing to popular site This is your Kingdom (TIYK). A site about lovely things to see and do in the UK. I'll of course be writing about Scotland and I'm really looking forward to it.

I'll be re-discovering places I used to go as student and discovering places I haven't yet been. I wonder how much things have changed.

As I'm now really into vintage furniture and DIY I'll of course be looking for 2nd hand shops and markets too. Not to mention lovely coffee shops. I'll also be discovering fab shops, parks and write about events and art galleries! Can't wait to get started!

Looks like fish and chip shops have changed anyway. They didn't look like this when I was a student in Glasgow back in the late 90s, but then again that was a while ago.. I've changed a lot too..

Hope you'll want to discover Scotland with me!

Black summer?

Normally I think I would go for light colours if I was going to create an outside space... but after seing these photos, well I've changed my mind. Black rocks!

If I had any furniture at hand I would start painting it black straight away.. but of course most of our things are now in Scotland. We're camping in our house for another couple of weeks before jetting off. Tomorrow I'll let you know which site I'll be contributing to once in Scotland. ;)

I'm excited to see our home featured on Houzz today (with furniture).

Tuesday Tips - Moving...

So a lot of you know that we're moving from France to Scotland. My simple tip is start packing EARLY and I mean really early. I started going through things weeks ago. I always underestimate how much we've got and it's taken a lot longer than I imagined it would. As you probably know it can be really stressful to move house. Like I said we're not just moving down the road, but we're moving to a different country. We're moving from our 4 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom (rented) apartment where we will stay for a while, but we don't know how long. We've had to sell, donate and recycle quite a lot. It also means we'll be moving again in a few months time.. (oh no!) At least we won't have 42 degrees when we move in Scotland.. It's probably more likely to be raining and of course we won't have so many things.

After some very hot,  long days of packing I'm afraid this is all I can manage as a Tuesday Tip today. I promise my tip next will be more substantial. I'm exhausted!

What a nice way of displaying your holiday photos.
Nice rustic wood.

Today we found some birthday cake candles whilst claring out our cupboards.
Magnus has decided we have to make a cake ( a chocolate cake to be more specific ) and we're going to have a fake Birthday Party. How cute is that?!

Happy Weekend!!!!

Industrial building

So you might be wondering why I'm showing you this photo.  No we've not bought it. It used to be an old car garage and I hadn't really noticed the building before. My eyes had just seen the petrol pumps and the gas bottles outside, but now it got my attention.

I asked my husband if he could see what I can see and to my great surprise he said yes. I must have shown him enough photos of houses by now, so he understood what I meant. With a bit of tlc wouldn't this just be the coolest home, restaurant, cafĂ©, workshop.. you name it.. It could be anything. But we are of course moving and I'm not even sure if it's for sale. Just wanted to you show it as I thought it was kind of great or at least it really could be. A place with potential..

Love it too?!

Shop Watch: Hook n'Loop

I love these products (and the product photos!) Can't decide on which product is my favourite, but I think it might be the neon storage box. It would brighten up my living room (and keep our books and magazines looking tidy).

photos by Hook n'Loop

All products have been designed by Elisheva at her studio in Israel. Elisheva loves objects that beg for a human touch - to be rearranged, moved around, build and rebuilt - you'll see that in many of her designs. A lot of her ideas come from living in a small space with her husband and two children. She's constantly thinking of ideas for saving space - objects that fold and can be stored flat, and that can be used in different ways.

There's both the site Hook n' loop and the Etsy shop with the same name. You can also sign up for her newsletterElisheva is offering a 15% discount to all my readers with the code hegeinfrance15 and free delivery!

Don't you just love these designs?! Very fresh!

Tuesday Tips - Trend Alert Tan Leather

So lately I've kind of been crazy about leather sofas.. It's funny when you notice something you really like and then see it everywhere. I'm not just talking about leather sofa's in general, it HAS to be tan leather. Have you noticed this trend too? New or vintage, I don't mind. I like them all.

Our Trip to Paris

My favourite three things of the day..
Finally showing Magnus the Eiffel Tower, the leather chairs in one of the museums and visiting CafĂ© Coutume. I also found a shop for original cinema posters in the same street (Rue de Babylone).

Travelling on the metro is from now referred to as going on a ride.. "Can we go on another ride, Mummy.. " ha ha! We're not used to much in the French country side.

Here are some of our photos...

Happy new week!!!

Blog discovery

I found this lovely UK blog Breathe Happiness and these beautiful photos. I love the colour of the front door. It also looks like a lovely place to work from.

Happy Weekend!!
I'll write more about Paris soon...

Animal cushions

So our guest bedroom has got a new look with some animal cushions. The room is ready for our last visit here in France.

I filled the cushions with feather inners as I think they look more "alive" and comfy. The dog paintings on the cushions look very real and give the room a more masculine feel. I think it's kind of funny the dogs have clothes on. The cushion covers are from Dekoria

I would love to paint half the wall behind the beds grey, but as we're moving in 3 weeks and it's 30 degrees outside it's probably not a good idea. I'll just enjoy the sun instead... Yeah right, GET PACKING!

Hope the cute dogs made you smile.

Tuesday Tips - Trend Alert Mirrored Furniture

I was in H&M the other day and spotted something very glam.  They had quite a normal table top, but the trestles were mirror ones and they caught my attention. I've been looking for them ever since, but can't find them anywhere.. Do you know where I can get them? I know you normally would look for clothes in H&M, but I'm easily distracted when it comes to cool furniture..

Next day, the AM. PM. catalogue arrived full of mirrored furniture.. Inspired by the film The Great Gatsby and art deco?!

Mirrors have the ability to not only add the illusion of space in your home, but provide a polished appearance. Add mirrored furniture in your bedroom for a Marilyn touch or take the traditional approach by using mirrors around your interiors.

If you fancy having a go at making mirrored furniture yourself HERE's a DIY.
