Washi AGAIN?!

I know I've gone washi-mad, but it can be used for so many things! I've had this idea in my head for a while...

I rolled out some washi tape and stuck it onto a flat surface an oilcloth would be perfect, it's just to make sure the tape doesn't stick. Then I stamped my wording on it, let it dry for a couple of minutes and put it on the tins. The tins were spray-painted a couple of days ago. My DIY chalkboard has now got a frame. It used to be an old IKEA frame and I used the backing as a chalk board.. :) To find out how easy it is to make your own chalkboard paint click HERE

I also found this cool idea via apartmentherapy

Here are some photos from the Bloomingville stand at Maison d'objet.. NICE new products!!!

Have a nice and creative TUESDAY! hx

ps! the reason I'm a bit quiet is because I'm working on my new web-shop and doing a hundred other things at the same time as usual :) and my shoulder is killing me!

Flowers..

Just having some fun taking some photos of my flowers!!! My favorites anemones! wow! I spray painted some different size tins yesterday. In the background a canvas I've painted several times and used crackle paint on, but it's still not finished..

And some more photos from our walk in..
Love the wallpaper and the chairs too of course, but they're not ours.. Somebody's coming to pick them up later today, just thought I'd take the opportunity to take some photos of them.

Hope you're having a nice Sunday!

Rugcycle

I just discovered something really cool! Check this out it's called RUGCYCLE. A company in Stockholm recycles and sews together old rugs. What a great way of introducing colours to a room.

I do of course like the idea of trying this myself too.

Talking about colours here's another brilliant idea I saw this morning.. how cute!

Thank you so much for all your comments on my table yesterday! I really appreciate it! I still haven't decided 100% what to do.. but some ideas are definitely forming.. :)

Have a nice relaxing Sunday!

Tables and things

So last night I was sat in our living room looking at our kitchen table thinking would it look good in black?! :)

This is one of my favorite photos and tables so I think I had this in mind.. love it! Think I might go for it...

Here's what our table looks like

I bought this table a few months back from a French artist that was moving to Italy. It used to be his worktable. I love it, but I think that with our huge French dresser it kind of disappears as it is almost the same gray colour... AGREE?! Would love to hear your opinion! Don't know if I would paint the tabletop though as I like it as it is.

Here are some photos I was completely drawn to this morning... hope you like them too! Love the shabby look!

Home office à la Hege

A while back I mentioned that I've done up my Mum's study or home office. I say I, but all I've really done is to tell her and my Dad what to do and where to put it, as they are in Norway and I am in France.. so, after a lot of emails and photos! Here's the result...

The ceiling, walls and window were painted white to make the room brighter. The floor is new laminate as it old lino flooring was a bit tired looking. The new desk is a lot smaller and used to be an old kitchen table. It was also painted white and so was my Granpa's old apple box - now used as a bookshelf. The new reproduction Eames chair was a Christmas present from me, as I sell them :)

So, other than white, my Mum chose a colour she liked and she ended up with light turquoise (which is also one of my favorites as you may have noticed.. ) The turquoise industrial zinc lamp was bought new.

Magnus did a hand print in turquoise for Christmas that looks lovely on one of the new shelves. We also painted a large E grey and put some scrapbooking tags on it and on one Magnus wrote MORMOR (Gran in English) :) he's only 4, so he did really well :)

Next to the large E there's an old oil lamp that my Dad found in the garage and it had some turquoise on it, so we just had to use it!

The armchair was a FRETEX.no find (2nd hand shop) for 7€ and the plate rack a FINN.no find (also 2nd hand) for 15€. We'll be replacing the knobs shortly.

Some before photos of what used to be an office and a storage room at the same time..

This cupboard used to belong to my Gran and hasn't been in use for years. So it was nice to be able to fit it in to the new office.

The office if now very personal, inviting and relaxing.
Hope you like it.
I haven't even seen it myself yet only the photos.
Thank you to my parents for letting me go wild in their home yet again! :) and thanks for the photos!
Have a great Friday!!

DIY chalkboard paint

Can't find the colour of chalkpaint you want?! MAKE IT!

It's so easy to make! I've tried it and it works.

Here's what to do

1 Cup of latex house paint or acrylic craft paint
1 TBSP of non-sanded tile grout

(not sure what non-sanded is so I just tried with our tile grout and it worked)

Mix together until there are no lumps and that's it!

Paint your surface with the mixture with a small roller for a smoother finish. 2 or 3 coats. Let it dry completely and then try it! To clean your chalkboard simply use a damp cloth. :)

Wish my handwriting was better...

Saw photofunia being used on designhund and had to try it..
like it!

Have fun painting! Hx

Colours

Yesterday I started painting a tin can bright pink.. Then my husband came downstairs and said what are you doing? My answer was trying to do something different, but I really don't like pink.. He then replied so why are you doing it then? It won't be any good! He's right! You've got to like what you're doing or the result won't be good. So, I got rid of the rest of my bright pink paint I had left from painting a toy box that I've sold and I will start again today with turquoise a colour I feel much more comfortable with. :) Is this down to me being Norwegian YES I think so. Have realized that I'm quite Norwegian in my colour schemes. So here's some more turquoise inspiration. There are so many nice shades of this colour..
